Feline care

Cat World.

For our feline patients

Bonnie Mara loves cats!

A different patient

Cats are not small dogs.

Dr. Putnam is a member of the Feline Veterinary Medical Association and a certified cat friendly veterinarian. At Bonnie Mara, we understand cats are not small dogs, and have their own special medical and behavioral needs.

The space itself

An entire Cat World.

At Bonnie Mara, we have created an entire “Cat World” to minimize the stress that cats can experience when they come to the vet.

  • Their own exam room

A separate space in the hospital, so a cat’s visit happens away from the noise and smell of dogs.

  • Their own treatment room

Cats are worked up and treated in feline-only space, not a shared floor.

  • Warmed cages, infused with calming pheromones

For those cats who may need to spend some time with us in the hospital.

  • Low-stress handling, entrance to exit

We use pheromones and cat friendly handling from the moment they enter the hospital until they go home.

Rest, undisturbed

Away from the dogs.

We also take care to have an entirely separate area for cats, so they can rest comfortably away from dogs.

Chosen for cats

Feline vaccinations.

We follow the Feline Veterinary Medical Association and American Animal Hospital Association vaccination recommendations for our feline patients, and we’ll help tailor your cat’s vaccinations to their lifestyle.

We thoughtfully selected PureVax and Elanco Trufel premium vaccinations. These were specifically designed for cats, are non-adjuvants, small volume vaccinations which are less likely to create inflammation at the site of the vaccination.
